CSQ’s National Coming Out Day: #ChurchOut Sunday

In honor of the 30th anniversary of National Coming Out Day, City Square Church is excited to host a #ChurchOut celebration Sunday, October 7, at 10am. #ChurchOut is an opportunity to foster compassion and understanding of the journey of our LGBTQ sisters and brothers living openly in a religious community.

#ChurchOut Sunday will feature four tellers who’ll share stories about coming out as a teenager, a minister, a couple and the yet-unfolding journey of learning to trust people of faith.

Our primary goal for this event is to facilitate reconciliation between the LGBTQ community and the church by:
1. Listening to stories by our LGBTQ friends
2. Repenting as a church for our callous response to the LGBTQ community
3. Committing to support other faith communities that provide safe and affirming space for LGBTQ individuals

(NOTE: This is the first of a two-part celebration. The citywide #ChurchOut event is scheduled for 6pm, Thursday, Oct. 11, at Boycott Bar – https://www.facebook.com/events/242134943174508/.)
